Double cleansing, where you perform two cleanses consecutively, is important if you are wearing makeup or sunscreen. The reason is that the first cleanse removes the makeup and sunscreen while the second cleanse works deeper in the skin, removing any remaining impurities.
Generally performed at night, double cleansing is also important if you are performing your skincare routine midday, for example before you work out.

There are mixed reviews on this topic, but our answer is: Yes, but only if done carefully.
Generally, the water temperature when taking a shower is much hotter than the water we would use at the sink to wash our face. So it’s very important to turn down the temperature if you are washing your face in the shower.
Cleansing the face with hot water is not only drying to the skin but can cause redness and broken capillaries.
While skin brushes are marketed to "deep pore clean" the skin, not only do they underdeliver on that promise, they also do more harm than good.
Because of the sonic technology, skin brushes create micro-tears in the skin which cause chronic inflammation and also spreads acne-causing bacteria. Over time, this trauma can work against your skin and begin to break down collagen and elastin.
The key to a thorough cleanse is to make sure you massage your cleanser on your skin long enough using your fingertips and lukewarm water.
If you like to use a wipe or washcloth when cleansing, you can use a fragrance-free baby wipe as a disposable washcloth by applying your cleanser and then remove by gently wiping off the cleanser with a damp baby wipe - then rinse and repeat.
The theory behind this idea is that your skin is “clean” from the night before and cleansing in the morning strips the skin’s natural moisture barriers.
In reality, our skin is our body’s largest organ of elimination, and while we sleep, our skin is producing waste material in the form of oil, sweat, and dead skin cells which create free radicals that are damaging to the skin.
The key is making sure you select a cleanser, like Gentle Cleanser, which does not strip the skin while it cleanses, thereby supporting a healthy moisture barrier.
